Art Nouveau hotels

Art nouveau came to Prague in the late 1800s, as one of the city’s most notable artists, Alphons Mucha, was an early proponent of the style. Founded in Paris, the “new art” architectural style was characterized by soft lines, decorative flourishes and incorporated natural motifs, such as leafy trees and curvaceous ladies. Art nouveau architecture is all over Prague, and the facades and interiors of a handful of hotels that are still in use today are representative of the style.

Here are some of the most interesting art nouveau hotels in Czech Republic:

  • Hotel Europa. It was first built in the late 1800s but was remodeled in 1903 in the trendy art nouveau style. The hotel has a spectacular view on the bustling Wenceslas Square as well as typical art nouveau marble and ornate decorations.
